Curcumin and Triple Negative Breast Cancer
Curcumin inhibits the growth and metastasis of triple negative breast cancer and
enhances the effectiveness of doxorubicin (Adriamycin) chemotherapy.
Curcumin is the major component of the spice turmeric, extracted from the root (rhizomes) of the
plant Curcuma longa.
I have written many articles about curcumin and alternative cancer treatment strategies. The following is a
specific summary of curcumin and triple negative breast cancer alternative treatment research.
Laboratory cancer cell studies demonstrate curcumin inhibits the growth of triple negative breast cancer
cells.[1] [2] [3]
Researchers growing cancer tumors found curcumin causes triple negative breast cancer cells to die and decreases
growth and migration (metastasis). [4]
Laboratory cell study of triple negative breast cancer cells found curcumin enhanced the effectiveness of
doxorubicin (Adriamycin) chemotherapy treatment.[5]
Curcumin shows such promise in the treatment of triple negative breast cancer treatment that researchers,
universities and drug companies are developing semi-synthetic versions to be used for medical drug
treatment.[6] [7]
Curcumin is not well absorbed from the stomach and intestines. Combining curcumin
with piperine (BioPerine) increases blood levels by 200 to 2000%.[8]
