Chemotherapy
Supplemented with FWGE Helped Melanoma Patients

Patients
with severe melanoma that received chemotherapy and Fermented Wheat Germ Extract had better outcomes.
Researchers examined 52 patients with stage-three melanoma and surgery to remove the melanoma tumors. Immediately
after surgery all patients received chemotherapy treatment for up to four months or up until the cancer progressed.
One-half of the patients received Fermented Wheat Germ Extract (FWGE) ( Avemar or Oncomar ) dietary supplement
for one year.
After seven years of follow-up researchers
found:
• Chemotherapy supplemented with FWGE worked better than chemotherapy by itself in terms of progression-free
survival and overall survival
• An astonishing 57% of the patients taking the FWGE survived without the disease progressing
• Only 26.9% of the patients taking chemotherapy by itself had progression-free survival.
• Overall survival of the FWGE group averaged 66.2 months
• Overall survival of the chemotherapy only group averaged 44.7 months.
The combination chemotherapy and FWGE group had fewer toxic side effects than the patients who received only
chemotherapy.
Researchers said they “highly recommend the inclusion of this fermented wheat-germ-extract-based medical nutriment
into the adjuvant protocols of high-risk skin melanoma patients. We also encourage colleagues worldwide to further
test this non-toxic active preparation in melanoma and in other types of human cancers.”
Fermented Wheat Germ Extract is available as Avemar® and Oncomarâ„¢ dietary supplements.
