Breast Cancer Resveratrol Reduces Estrogen Receptor Positive (ER+) Breast Cancer
Tumor Growth

Breast Cancer Resveratrol treatment could be a safer alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) in
postmenopausal women and could help prevent breast cancer.
The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry indicate that resveratrol
is the most likely candidate of plant estrogens to offer safer hormone replacement therapy and prevention of
breast cancer due to its estrogenic activity and high
antitumor activity.

Researchers found soy and resveratrol plant estrogens
increased normal breast cancer cell death (apoptosis) and reduced a breast cancer growth chemical (Bcl-2).
Resveratrol lowered the breast cancer chemical better than soy.
“Because it (resveratrol) stimulated the transcription of endogenous estrogen
receptor (ER) and proapoptotic effects, this phytoestrogen is the most promising candidate as an HRT alternative
and chemopreventive reagent for breast cancer,” researchers concluded.
Results of the tests indicate that the plant estrogen diadzein from soy causes a
slight cell-stimulating effect in the absence of estradiol, which may lead to an increased risk of breast cancer in
postmenopausal women.

Tamoxifen is often used to prevent breast cancer tumor growth. It is a week estrogen that attaches to the estrogen
receptor and keeps stronger estrogens from attaching. This keeps the stronger estrogens from stimulating tumor
growth.
It appears the phyto-estrogens in resveratrol and soy also attach to the estrogen receptors and keeps stonger
estrogens from attaching and stimulating tumor growth.
