By Keith D. Bishop, Clinical Nutritionist, B.Sc. Pharmacy - November 29, 2009

A placebo controlled trial of natural green tea extract slowed the growth of premalignant oral cancer
lesions.
Studies of consumption of green tea and laboratory studies support the oral cancer prevention of green tea extract. in this study patients with high risk oral
premalignant lesions received green tea extract or placebo three times daily for 12 weeks.
Fifty percent of the patients taking the green tea extract had a
reduction in cancer growth. Only eighteen per cent of the patients taking the placebo had a reduction in cancer
growth.
A higher dose of green tea extract provided better reduction in cancer growth. The green tea extract was well
tolerated, although higher doses increase insomnia and nervousness.
Green tea extract suppresses oral cancer growth through reducing stromal Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor
(VEGF) and cyclin D1 Expression.
Researchers state the results of this study support longer-term clinical testing of green tea extract for oral
cancer prevention.

Natural Cancer Treatment Pearl
Most natural cancer research shows it takes more than 6 cups of green tea each day to have an
impact on cancer prevention or treatment.
Decaf green tea may have less than half of the anti-cancer benefits of antioxidants and EGCG. The
process of removing the caffeine also removes EGCG. Drinking green tea with caffeine will provide more EGCG.
I recommend that my clients drink green tea and take Green
Tea 600 capsules.
